A Current Affair

Its no secret that I’m a huge fan of vintage clothes, so when I heard A Current Affair was coming to the bay area I was psyched and instantly texted my girlfriends to buy tickets.  If you’re not familiar with this fashion popup sensation, its an event that brings the top vintage retailers and private dealers in the country together for an amazing day of shopping, inspiration, and treasure hunting. Prices range from reasonable $35 to woah woah woah $3000+, but for one-of-a-kind Chanel, East West, and Gucci pieces what can you expect? This sale has also attracted teams from free people, Trina Turk and even Sophia Amoruso who called it the “best vintage on the planet”. So yeah, A Current Affair is the real deal, and if you are obsessed with vintage like I am you must check them out. Also take a peek at their instagram – they got real nice pictures on there.

Initially a bit overwhelmed, I found myself going through racks and rack of vibrant prints; feminine florals, multicolored stripes. My eyes were on the prize; I was searching for sweet 60’s psychedelic pieces. Most vendors had a decent selection of accessories, tables full of jewelry, shoes, and purses. I love large statement pieces; mixing vintage earrings & necklaces to my everyday outfits is one way I try to create unique and fashionable looks.

Vintage Books

Once someone gets to know me they soon find out that I have an obsession with items of the past. Growing up I often visited my grandparents house that was filled with unique and old treasures that transported me to another time. Grandfather clocks, cookbooks from the 1950s, artifacts collected from all over the world inspired my young mind and influenced my interests of today. Now as an adult I surround myself with vintage books that have dated designs and old world wisdom. The pages in these book inspire and inform me on how things once were. Even though the info in this love book is totally cheesy and probably outdated, the vibrant colors and patterns are fun to look through.

Vintage astrology/horoscope books are especially my favorite. I love looking at the delicate illustrations and reading about my sign. Its like I’m searching for information on my true self as told by the stars 🙂
