Spontaneous Couples Shoot

A few weeks ago me, Mike, and our handy dandy tripod took a drive to San Francisco’s Lands End trail to shoot some photos for our wedding website. To be honest I haven’t had much experience shooting photos with the tripod so I was a little iffy about how these would turn out. To my surprise the combo of overcast weather and the help of a lighting app we were able to get some great shots. The wedding website is probably going to stay under construction for a while since I’m spending most of my time reaching out to vendors for our big day.

Lots of super cheesy poses (of course) but with the mixture of fun illustrations they feel more our style. The 10 second timer took three photos at a time so there was a lot of shuffling to get the poses right. Below is my “She Said Yes!” photo with my bling bling shining bright.

Surprise Engagement Party

About a month ago my lovely friends planned a surprise soiree to celebrate my recent engagement. It was held at Chambers , the swanky bar/restaurant attached to the Phoenix hotel. I just thought I was meeting a girlfriend for casual drinks, but once we turned the corner outside all of my girlfriends were lined up around a table. There were gorgeous flowers, friends I haven’t seen in months, and huge golden lettering spelling out “YAY”. I was utterly speechless. I’m not easily surprised (I’m a very suspicious person) but I was totally blind-sided in the most delightful way. Often getting caught up with the day-to-day of work, gym, yada yada it was nice to catch up with all of my closest girlfriends in one night <3

There are so many traditions surrounding this confection; Saving the top tier for your first anniversary, the cutting of the cake, and the finding the perfect groom and bride toppers. I’m a sucker for traditions so you better believe I’ll be incorporating all of them in my wedding 🙂 There are a multitude of cake styles out there and I listed my favorites below. Not your traditional frosted covered cake, this style isn’t afraid to show a little skin :p. The naked style is unique and has that rustic/laid back vibe; when adorned with flowers or fruit its ready to be the reception showpiece.
